Nicole Abraham is a fully qualified English and Drama teacher, with 8 years of classroom experience in London and Essex based secondary and primary schools. Nicole offers group sessions, as well as one to one sessions. Nicole personalises her lessons, tailored to the students’ attainment, goals and interests.

GCSE English Language

During this 4-week course students will be supported in working through the most recent GCSE Language Paper 2. Through a series of activities, students will develop their comprehension, analytical and persuasive writing skills. These skills are transferable across all exam boards, such as AQA, OCR and Edexcel.

Lessons are suitable for students in year 10 and year 11 and will provide essential skills that are required in preparation for the GCSE.

  • Week 1: Overview Language paper 2, Questions 1, 2 & 3: Comprehension and Comparison
  • Week 2: Language paper 2, Question 4 – Evaluation: Presenting Your Argument
  • Week 3: Writing to Persuade, Argue and Advise  
  • Week 4: Persuasive Writing: Structuring your Article

Year 9 & 10 Creative Writing

This 4-week course will provide students with the essential tools required to develop their creative writing skills. All elements covered in this course will prepare students for the creative writing section of their GCSE English language paper.

Through a series of carefully designed lessons, students will learn and develop key writing skills in order to express themselves creatively. These lessons also foster a collaborative learning experience for students. This course is suitable for students transitioning into year 9.

  • Week 3: Creative writing: Creating a Convincing Character Voice
  • Week 4: Creative Writing: Structuring Your Story

Year 8 Persuasive Writing

During this 4-week course, students will explore and analyse a variety of different examples of persuasive writing. They will then learn and develop key writing skills in order to write a persuasive article on ’social media’, or another topic of their choice .

This course is designed to support students with their skills to think critically, as well as their overall expression when writing. These skills are essential for students when preparing for their GCSE. This course is suitable for students transitioning into year 8.

  • Week 1: The Features of Persuasive Writing -Analysing different newspaper articles which explore the effects of social media on young people
  • Week 2: How to Write a Persuasive Introduction
  • Week 3: Structuring your Argument
  • Week 4: Developing your article – How to Write a Counter Argument and Conclusion

Year 7 Autobiographies

This 4-week course will explore and examine autobiographies from influential people across the world including Anne Frank, Malala and Ghandi.

Students will then learn and develop key writing skills in order to write their own autobiographies. This is an important element to the National Curriculum and develops core writing skills required at GCSE. This course is suitable for students transitioning into year 7.
